A science-fantasy. It's a good book, and had many interesting ideas, but for some reason it rarely drew me fully in. The latter half felt generally better to me.
In the end there also were a few bits that delivered on what I want from a sci-fi book: exploration of interesting ideas, however far-fetched they might be. Here it was mostly about mind uploading and the subjective experience, given (basicaly) magic powers and immortality.
Maybe I'll give the sequel a chance; I'm not sure yet.
