Making a Joplin API in C#

My new Joplin API for C# is very much incomplete; but it still can do useful things. I use it to create and update notes....

Looking for Airtable alternatives

I really like Airtable [https://airtable.com/]. It's a user-friendly spreadsheet/database app that supports relationships between tables. I've written about it here a few times already. However, their business model is not a great fit for my use-case. They're understandably focused on business users that can afford to shell out a lot more money than me. I only use it occasionally for tracking my own personal collections and after many years of using it, I am slowly bumping into the record limi...

Relieved to report my backup strategy works

Well, so my hard drive failed. It's not the first time one died on me, but it is the first time it happened in my daily driver PC. By chance, I had looked at the SMART stats maybe a month ago, and nothing out of the ordinary was reported. A few days ago I wanted to check if my backups are all up-to-date, when this happened: Notice how baffled Windows was: The drive was visible in Explorer, but not in Disk management. I hadn't really expected him to read it; that I might get a reply [https://www.zylstra.org/blog/2022/02/on-taking-notes-and-choosing-tools/] hadn't even occurred to me. (Thank you!) I'll admit I have never been involved in such a direct blog conversation, so I hope I'm not breaching decorum in some w...

On taking notes and syndicating them

I've been following Ton Zijlstra's blog for the past few months with great interest. There's noone else in my reader who blogs quite like he does - maybe I should find more.[1] He writes about many topics, only one of which is relevant for this post: taking notes. I always like reading about how other people process information and handle their notes/knowledge bases. It's a topic I think about often. Ton Zijlstra's ideas are especially interesting to me because it seems we are trying to achiev...
